Sunday, 23 August

It was a rainy day, so we discarded the idea of some beach time. After a relaxed breakfast with Laura and D’Arcy, we checked out of the hotel and headed to Green Gables. It’s changed a lot over the years – not the house itself, of course, but its surroundings. There’s now a huge visitors’ centre, with amazing displays and the story of L.M. Montgomery’s  life. Plus, of course, a coffee shop and gift shop.

All the displays in the visitors’ centre are so engaging that we spent quite a bit of time enjoying them. Finally, we carried on across the Confederation Bridge to New Brunswick, and made our way back to Shediac. A different motel this time. Very comfortable, if not as luxurious as our Charlottetown hotel.

We decided to explore a bit and find a meal, so we drove to the end of a wharf and enjoyed a terrific burger at the Sandbar. Then it was all about relaxing.

Ok, so we watched a string of Friends episodes on the dated TV.
